Delta College at Estrellita:

If you are interested in taking  Delta College courses for Spring 2018 on the Estrellita campus, Delta College will be hosting  an application and financial aid workshop on Jan 9 from 5-7pm.  Also, they will host the Accuplacer Exam on Jan 16, 5-7pm.  Both workshops will be held at Estrellita.  If you are interested in attending, please sign up with Dr. Chavez or with Ms. Munoz (LRHS) or Ms. German (GHS)

Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarship:

Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarship:

 

Attention seniors!  If you are pursuing a career in health care related fields, Lodi Memorial is offering scholarships based on merit and need.  Applications will be accepted between January 1-Mar 16, 2018.  Applications can be found online at www.lmhfoundation.org/scholarships.  These must be printed and mailed in.  Any questions, see Dr. Chavez

 

ASVAB Test: Galt High School: Mar 9, Library; Liberty Ranch: Mar 16, Library

 

SAT/ACT fee waivers: Maximum number allowed per student is 2 fee waivers total per test.  Only juniors and seniors qualify for the waiver. Any questions, see Dr. Chavez.  Fee waivers are also available from the Guidance Technicians:  Lorena German (Galt) and Alondra Munoz (Liberty Ranch)

 

Scholarships: These are posted on Dr. Chavez’s door or on the LRHS and GHS websites. Local scholarships will be coming around January.

 

College Visits: University of Northern British Columbia will be visiting with AVID 11/12 on Nov 4.

The Sacramento Links Scholarships: For students of African heritage interested in STEM. Requirements: 3.0 minimum gpa, online application, essay, transcripts, and one letter of recommendation. Application and all available scholarships: http://sacramentolinksinc

City Property Management Scholarship: Amount: $1000. Must have minimum 3.0 and interested in HOA Management or Real Estate major. Schwab-Rosenhouse: Amount:$1000-$5000, renewable. Selection includes academic record, community service, volunteer service, personal circumstances, and future goals.   Finalists will be asked to submit a copy of their FAFSA.  Applicants must submit: application, transcript, test scores, and letter of recommendation. Rustmann German Language & Culture Scholarship:  Offered by Sacramento Turn Verein (STV), German Language School (GLS), and STV Actives. Award: $500. For those who demonstrate interest in the German language and culture.  Must have taken German language during high school and must have applied and been accepted to any institution of higher learning.  Apply between Dec 1, 2017-Feb 15, 2018.  Application materials MUST be sent via regular mail.  You will need: application, essay, one letter of recommendation, transcript showing  required German classes.  For more info and application: http://stv-germanlanguageschool.org/scholarships

e-Quality Scholarship: Amount: $6000. For graduating high school seniors who live in northern or Central CA. Attend college, university, or trade school. Scholarship recognizes individuals who have given service to the LGBT+ community. Due Feb 1, 2018.  www.equalityscholarship.org

Jackie Robinson Foundation: Be a graduating high school senior; Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States; Show leadership potential; Demonstrate a dedication to community service; Present evidence of financial need; Be a United States citizen; Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21.  Due Feb. 1, 2018

SeniorAdvisor.com: Future of Assisted Living Scholarship. Three $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university. Each eligible student must submit: 1) a 500-750 word essay response to the question: How can your major of study improve the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities in your town; 2) a 250-word maximum introductory bio about yourself – you may choose to include your work or educational background, why you're seeking a degree in your field, and why this scholarship interested you; 3) signed and dated scholarship agreement. Mitchell & Crunk Adoption Scholarship: 3.0 minimum gpa. Based on merit and need. Special consideration for those who are interested in pursuing a career in Adoption Law and can share their own story of adoption or that of someone they know. ASVAB Interpretation: Liberty Ranch interpretation is Nov 17 at 8:15 in the lab, Rm 143.  Galt HS interpretation TBA.

 

SAT/ACT tests: Dec test date is the last chance for seniors to take these tests. Dec 9 for ACT and Dec 2 SAT.

 

UC/CSU application instructions:  for CSU, we must use “quarters” as the school term and for UC we must use semester (10 credit courses) and quarter (5 credit courses).  Instructions are posted to the websites for both schools.  Students can also get help with the applications from all counselors.

August 2017 Announcements (Dr. Chavez)

 

Delta College classes at Estrellita:  College courses are now available in Galt.  Please join Delta College as they kick off this new partnership on Saturday, August 19, 2-5pm, at Estrellita.  Delta staff will be on hand to help with the application process and to answer any questions.  August 26, 2-5 pm, will be Assessment Day.

 

DISTRICT COLLEGE NIGHT: Sept 28, 2017 @ Liberty Ranch HS.  6:30-8pm in Cafeteria.  Simultaneous Spanish session in Library.  Local partners: UC, CSU, community college, and private college/university will be in attendance to give information about their respective schools.

 

CASH FOR COLLEGE WORKSHOP: Oct 26, 2017 @Galt HS. 4-7pm in Computer Labs 94 and 95. Bring 2016 tax information for yourself and parents. We will have financial aid personnel to assist you in filling out the FAFSA

 

ASVAB: Military skills assessment but there is no obligation to join the military.  Will be offered at both schools at 8:15 am in the Library.  Questions, see Dr. Chavez. You may sign up with the Guidance Technicians: Lorena (GHS), Alondra (LRHS).  Tests will be administered on: Oct 13 (LR), Oct 27 (GHS)
