Incoming Freshman Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year

It's that time of the year! Enrolling your freshman is an adventure filled with excitement, nerves, and a checklist of must-do's.  At Galt High School, we understand the significance of this event and strive to make the process as seamless as possible. To assist you in registering your incoming freshman for the 2024-2025 academic year, we have put together a timeline of essential events, dates, and resources to ensure a smooth transition. This information will provide you with details to make the registration process more accessible.

All enrollment is done electronically using our Student Data System, PowerSchool.  This is an online tool that provides the district with all the necessary information to start a student's enrollment.  This process requires the parent/legal guardian to create an account and input student and parent information along with the required documentation. While this tool can be accessed via a computer or phone, we strongly recommend using a computer.

Please follow the important steps below to enroll your student.

Step 1

FIND YOUR SCHOOL

It's important to note the following guidelines:
•    The high school placement of a student is determined by their primary home address.
•    PO Boxes are NOT acceptable as proof of residency.
                                       •    All documentation provided for residency must be current, valid, and legible

*For more information on California Education Code (48204.1) please see FAQ's

Step 2

To complete enrollment registration, the following documentation is required. You may submit the documentation through the online registration system, fax (209-745-3936), or hand-deliver it to Galt High School (145 N. Lincoln Way).

  • Proof of student's age- (Certified copy of a birth certificate, Passport, etc.)
  • Immunization Record
  • Two (2) of the following acceptable forms of  Proof  of Residency must be provided for verification of residency within district and school boundaries with parent/legal guardian’s name on it.
    • Most Current property tax payment receipt.
    • Rental property contract, lease or payment receipt. A property deed, monthly mortgage bill is also acceptable.
    • A recent- within the last thirty (30) days- utility service contract, statement or payment receipt.

*California Education Code (48204.1) requires that a school district must verify a student’s residency using reasonable evidence. The district uses residency information during the student enrollment process, to establish school of attendance, and when processing Caregiver and Residency Affidavits and Inter/Intradistrict Transfer Agreements. Parents/legal guardians must provide documents to the district as proof of residency within GJUHSD boundaries. Any documents provided to establish residency must include the name of the parent/legal guardian and current home address.

If the parent or guardian is unable to provide proof of residency in their name, a notarized affidavit is required.  See  application below.

If a students resides with a someone other than a parent, a notarized caregiver affidavit is required.   See application below.

What if I have more than one student in the district?
Do I need to do this for each child? Yes, because you’ll need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you submit one Registration and then start another – this will allow you to “snap over” shared family information, which will save you time.

I don’t know what a question is asking.
