College and Career Announcements

 
 
Congratulations to the following students who received the 2018 Schwab-Rosenhouse Scholarship:

Galt High School:  Chantal Millan
Liberty Ranch High School:  Sandra Escalera and Alyssa J Perez
 
“What’s Next?” Workshop will be April 10.  9:40 for GHS and 12 noon for LRHS. Both will be in the Library.  This is an important workshop so students will know how to confirm, reserve their residence halls, etc.
 
College and Career Fair
The College and Career Fair will be on March 21st in the Warrior Gym.
One of our Employment Agencies attending our College and Career Fair next Wednesday will be holding "On Site" Interviews during the Fair. Please tell your students to come prepared!
These are manufacturing and logistics jobs. Many are entry level.

Jim Kissler Memorial

Award: Up to $3000. Focuses on Ag majors, with an emphasis on viticulture, enology, agribusiness, agriculture engineering, and agriculture education. Must have attended and/or graduated from a high school in Crush District 11, OR have a relationship with a farming operation in Crush District 11.

Michael David Family Foundation

Award: Up to $3000. For students who are graduating from Crush District 11 and have a relationship with a farming operation in that district (applicant can be any major) OR graduating from Crush District 11 and will be majoring in an Ag related field.

Valley Oaks Grange Hall

Award: $500. Selection is based on achievement, citizenship, and application supporting essay. Application package MUST be mailed in to address provided. Due March 31, 2018.

Galt HS Alumni Scholarship for VAPA (Visual & Performing Arts) Students

Award: Three $500 scholarships. GHS and LRHS students are eligible. Must have minimum GPA of 2.0 and 2 year involvement in VAPA at their high schools.

Galt High School Alumni Association Scholarship (GHS students only)

Award: $500 - $1000. No minimum GPA. Application, transcript and 500-word essay addressing why you feel you are deserving of the scholarship, include career plans, any challenges you have had to overcome due to Dr. Chavez by April 13.

ASVAB Interpretation: November 7 Galt: 8:15, Library; Liberty Ranch: 11:50, Main Lab

 

SAT/ACT tests: Dec test date is the last chance for seniors to take these tests. ACT: Dec 14; SAT: Dec 7

 

UC/CSU application instructions:  We must use “semester” as the school type.  Application assistance is offered after school, 3:15-5pm on Nov 14, Rm 88 at GHS and Nov 18, Rm 143, LRHS.  Students can also get help with the applications from all counselors.

 

CRC Application Workshop: Nov 13 at both schools.  8:15 GHS, 10:50 LRHS.  Sign up with Ms. German (GHS) or Ms. Luitze (LRHS)

 

Fee waivers: SAT and ACT fee waivers available for those who qualify. Maximum allowed is 2 fee waivers total for each test. Any questions, see Dr. Chavez

 

Scholarships: Posted on Dr. Chavez’s door and on the LRHS and GHS websites. Local scholarships will be coming in January.

 

College Visits: Sign up with Ms. Luitze (LRHS) or Ms. German (GHS).  You can also sign up with Mrs. Siegalkoff in the Library at GHS.

CSU applications: Oct 1-Nov 30 https://www2.calstate.edu/apply

UC applications: Nov 1-30 https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/

Private colleges/universities: varies. Look at website for deadlines and details.  Some will use Common Application but not everyone is a member of this service. www.aiccu.edu

SAT/ACT: no later than DECEMBER of senior year

Community Colleges: applications starting late February

FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid): Oct 1, 2017-Mar 2, 2018.
